She also loved a kanikani, as others have acknowledged, directing Dziah Dance Academy, the first Aotearoa hip-hop dance crew to represent at the world hip-hop champs in the USA. Her background, spanning 20 years in the health sector before she became elected as an MP for T\u0101maki Makaurau in 2023, allowed her to come here with a strong focus on social wellbeing and youth mental health. She was also a figurehead in New Zealand\u2019s highly regarded hip-hop dance community. The sadness that we all feel today for the loss of this wonderful woman is paired with a regret that given the health challenges she faced and the short time she served in this House, she didn\u2019t have the opportunity to do all we know she had the potential to do here. She was a beautiful soul, and this is such a taumaha time. I heard about the dancing. I always used to challenge her to a dance, you know, but we never ever quite got there. She was just a vivacious, beautiful person. She was a big part of our movement in South Auckland, which was the urban M\u0101ori movement. She led Manurewa Marae and Papakura Marae; our marae, Ng\u0101 Whare Waatea; Te Puea Memorial Marae in M\u0101ngere. She was just an inspiration, because she came from that background of working for our people, and her priorities were supporting, uplifting, and empowering M\u0101ori. As Carmel Sepuloni said, a mana wahine\u2014just such a great example, and an absolute powerhouse in terms of the Manurewa Marae.\u003C/span\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\n      \u003Cp id=\u0022id202506264b7ea286a7c74263b180ba701be026d3000148\u0022\u003E\u003Cspan class=\u0022HpsNormal\u0022 id=\u0022f317ee7d-f040-44ec-8f2f-ad0a9f206d75\u0022\u003EAs a CEO, she was at the forefront of Wh\u0101nau Ora, rangatahi development, M\u0101ori language development, community development\u2014you name it, and Tarsh was doing it. Before that, as I said, she was a\u2014I don\u2019t know if she was quite the dancer. She sort of made out she was the dancer, but I think she was a bit like me\u2014more the manager\u2014in the hip-hop world. I\u2019d say to her, \u201CI never quite got to where you were actually in that hip-hop world, Tarsh.\u201D, but she was directing and organising some of the best dancers this country has ever seen. Just magnificent\u2014just magnificent\u2014and in the area of mental health, and particularly in the area of youth suicide, she just did some fantastic work.\u003C/span\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\n      \u003Cp id=\u0022id202506264b7ea286a7c74263b180ba701be026d3000149\u0022\u003E\u003Cspan class=\u0022HpsNormal\u0022 id=\u0022f317ee7d-f040-44ec-8f2f-ad0a9f206d75\u0022\u003EShe was such a vivacious, passionate woman. It was very, very clear what she felt about her relation Tama in the National Government, and Audrey Young put that in the New Zealand Herald this morning. We can destroy each other, and then, you wouldn\u2019t think it was the same people\u2014we\u2019ll be having a cup of tea and a kai out the back at the marae.
